Our own brand, Bowes & Hill, carries the emblem of great British craftsmanship. We design and build every piece of furniture with passion, skill and by hand.

From our beautiful collection of house fabrics to some of the best-known designer sofa fabric brands, or even a fabric you’ve found elsewhere.
The Frame
All of our frames are hand-built using beech wood. Skilled wood machinists mill the frames parts, before one of our experienced framemaker builds the frame and all joints are glued, screwed and dowelled for strength.
Separate corner blocks are used to support the legs or feet, and all spring rails are supported by 15cm or 18cm solid wooden blocks.
The whole process ensures that our frames are built to last and, as such, we give a 25 year guarantee on them.
Springing
All of our products are either constructed with metal serpentine springs or elasticated webbing.
All the quality products we use ensure a comfortable sit and a truly exceptional finish.
Cutting and Sewing
Our fabric cutters are highly skilled and can turn any fabric, no matter how complicated the design, into a perfectly matched piece of furniture.
Fabrics are marked out and cut by hand to ensure that any weaving and printing faults are avoided. Leather is also marked out and cut by hand to ensure scars and growth marks are avoided wherever possible.
Once the fabrics and leathers are cut, they move on to our sewing department where they are sewn by one of our skilled machinists, each of which have been with the company since the year we started.

A machine cannot replace a human hand or eye, and we pride ourselves on imbuing our furniture with a human touch.
Each piece of furniture is handmade by one of our skilled upholsterers, who make the whole piece from start to finish and is individually responsible for its quality and finish.
